While Profhilo uses hyaluronic acid, which is injected into the skin similar to dermal filler, Profhilo is not a dermal filler. Unlike hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Profhilo has a runnier consistency meaning that as it is injected into the skin, it spreads within a 2cm radius. It then spreads under the skin’s surface where it immediately hydrates deep within the skin.

DOES IT HURT?

Profhilo treatment is not painful, but some people may feel a slight sting when the needle is injected into the skin. ARE THERE ANY POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

The most common side effect that could occur is bruising or swelling at the injection site. Other side effects might include temporary redness and itching.

In rare cases, more serious side effects can occur, such as skin necrosis (death of skin cells) or an allergic reaction. These are more likely to happen if the injection is not done properly. IS THE TREATMENT SAFE?

WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT DO AFTER PROFHILO TREATMENT?

​​After receiving Profhilo treatment, it is important to not massage or manipulate the treated area. This can cause the product to spread outside of the injection area and result in uneven results. It is also important to not expose the treated area to extreme heat or cold, as this can affect the product’s efficacy. 

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED  TREATMENT?

Profhilo is a skin booster, so to start with you should have 2 treatments 4-6 weeks apart, then once you see your results you could leave 4-6 months between each treatment after that.

Profhilo® lasts in the skin for around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slowly releasing hyaluronic acid. Within the first few weeks you will see intense hydration, glowing skin and fine lines can disappear! You skin will feel smoother and tighter. 

YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY

You will need to give us a full medical history at the consult.

We only commence treatment if we are confident you are a medically suitable for it.

We will refer to a doctor if necessary.

There are certain contraindications to Profhilo treatment which mean you cannot have the treatment. Some of these are: pregnancy, roaccutane users, recently had a peel or laser resurfacing.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?

Our highly trained Cosmetic Doctors will give you specific aftercare instructions to follow, so that your recovery proceeds smoothly and effectively, without infection. However, unlike surgical facelifts, there is no downtime, and you are ready to get on with your day Immediately after your treatment.

You may feel some localized pain, have inflammation and swelling, tenderness, redness, and bleeding or bruising after the procedure. However, this is usually localised to the injected area and generally disappears soon after leaving the clinic.

WHO SHOULD AVOID THIS TREATMENT?

As with most drugs, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and people with neuromuscular disorder should not be given Profhilo injections. People on antibiotics should consult with their doctor prior to receiving these injections.
