HOW DOES AQUALYX INJECTION WORK?
Aqualyx is injected into target areas and works by breaking down the cell membrane to liquify fat cells and destroy them permanently. The lipids are then eliminated naturally through the body’s lymphatic draining system.
ARE YOU SUITABLE FOR AQUALYX TREATMENT?

WHERE DOES THE FAT GO AND IS IT PERMANENT?
Once the fat is dissolved following Aqualyx fat reduction treatment and dispelled by your lymphatic system via your urine, it is permanently removed. However, fat reduction injections will not prevent you from putting weight on. The fat can return if you eat foods high in fat and sugar or do not regularly exercise.

IS IT PAINFUL?
As with any treatment that involves needles, injections may cause slight pain or discomfort. However, your practitioner will numb the area with a topical cream before the procedure to ensure discomfort is minimal.
HOW WILL AQUALYX FAT DISSOLVING BE PERFORMED?
While the process may vary slightly based on where a person is receiving the injections, here are some basic steps you might undergo when receiving Aqualyx injections:
The process usually takes anywhere from a half an hour to an hour. You may require up to eight treatments to see the maximum effect.
IS IT SAFE?
Aqualyx was developed by Professor Pasquale Motolese, Vice President of the Italian Society of Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine who presented it at the Aesthetic Medical International Congress in Milan in 2004.
Aqualyx has been given CE approval for use in the UK which means it meets the health and safety standards required by the European Union. Since 2009 Aqualyx has been used in over 2 million treatments in over 49 countries. It has a strong safety record supported by sound medical science.
WHEN WILL I START TO SEE RESULTS?
The number of Aqualyx treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas, such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas such as the thighs. Treatments are spaced at 6 weekly intervals. Your result will show 6 weeks after your final treatment which is when you will have a complimentary review with your practitioner.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I REQUIRE?
Treatments are dependent on the individual.
It is also dependent on medical background and diet.
In general, you can expect to gradually lose 20 to 30% of fat in the treated area after just one session. Most patients see noticeable results within two months, but some may see results in as early as a few weeks. If you are serious about body contouring, you must avoid weight gain during treatment or your results will be poor.
ARE THERE ANY POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
Aqualyx isn’t without its side effects. A doctor should discuss these with you before undergoing the procedure. Examples include:
A rarer side effect is scarring, which has been reported but isn’t known to occur with any regularity.
It’s also possible you could have an allergic reaction to one or more of the substances present in Aqualyx.
CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES AFTER THE TREATMENTS?
Yes, you can. The procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. As surgery can lead to months of discomfort and disruption to life.

There are certain contraindications to Aqualyx which mean you cannot have the treatment. Some of these are: pregnancy, roaccutane, Raynaud’s phenomenon, Cryoglobulinemia or laser resurfacing.

You will need to remember some basic rules when commencing Aqualyx treatment.
You will be given an advice card at the consultation which you must follow before and after each session to get the best and safest results.
